Alexandra Prillaman (boy, that’s an unmarketable name) is an illustrator, writer and night owl from Richmond, VA. Switching to first person now – I am a senior at VCU, and most of my free time is spent working on various projects: character designs, environments, short comics, and even an online RPG that I authored and illustrated myself. To pay the bills I do freelance illustration and design work. My biggest dreams are to work for a paper-and-pencil RPG company and to write and illustrate my own children’s book. You can call me Alex if you want.

Artwork

I like to experiment with a lot of different styles. My work ranges from detailed paintings and loose painterly illustrations to surreal landscapes and flat, illustrative pin-ups. I am always looking for new ways to get things done and new styles to try out. The themes in my work revolve around childhood and adulthood, innocence and experience, fantasy and imagination. My favorite things to draw are kids in winter hats, strange dragons, weird clothes and hairstyles and nonsensical fantasy landscapes.

I use a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet and Photoshop CS3 for the majority of my work, though I still dabble in traditional art and occasionally venture into Corel Painter or Illustrator when the mood strikes me.

Website

This site layout (fondly dubbed “Medusa”) was designed by yours truly and coded by mercilessly mutilating and transforming the default Wordpress theme. The background pattern is an edited tile from k10k; the font is “Trinigan FG” from dafont.com. The gallery script is called NextGen and I highly recommend it.
